Village Refurbishment Team Member (Carpenter)
The Village Baxter has been proudly serving our Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Community since 1986. Our Refurbishment Team is currently looking to fill a key full-time vacancy at our Retirement Village in Frankston South.
In this hands-on role, you will assist with the refurbishment of buildings across our independent living community and aged care facility. You will bring relevant skills, experience and a suitable trade qualification, as well as being self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a mature attitude. The role involves working as a small, supportive team committed to high standards of safety, service and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with demolition and refurbishment works, including kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, fittings, and general building upgrades.
- Safely operate woodworking machinery, power tools, and battery-powered hand tools.
- Climb roofs and undertake elevated works involving tiles and timber.
- Move furniture and equipment between units as required.
- Maintain equipment in safe working order and comply with all safety procedures.
- Uphold the policies, philosophies, and values of The Village Baxter, promoting a positive image of the Village to residents, families, and visitors.
- Complete incident reports as required and ensure compliance and infection control requirements are adhered to.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Buildings Manager or Refurbishment Team Leader.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Sound working knowledge of building construction methods, regulations, and related trades.
- Formal trade qualification in building, carpentry or cabinetmaking.
- Strong understanding of woodworking machinery and the ability to maintain and service equipment.
- Demonstrated experience working efficiently and interacting courteously with others, contributing positively to a small work team.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety, infection control, quality, and accreditation standards.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s licence.
- Current Covid-19, annual influenza, and tetanus vaccinations.
- Police check (renewed every three years) suitable for working in aged care.
- Practical experience in an aged care environment will be highly regarded, as will Working With Heights and First Aid qualifications.
Hours of Work and Location
This is a full time, permanent, position based at Frankston South.
Hours of work are 7:00am to 3:06pm, Monday to Friday.
